Program Note

The artists play many varieties of colorful sounds in a kaleidoscopic range of combinations and are, (metaphorically speaking) portraying dancing stars. Playful, energized, vibrant, resonant, and lively musical adventures unfold. Commissioned by The Lassetter Fund for New Music for the Orchestra of the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Dedicated with admiration to Mark Powell. The socially-distanced world premiere took place in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Each artist recorded their part to a click-track from their home which were then digitally assembled into Dancing Stars.
