Program Note

Angel Tears & Earth Prayers for organ and trumpet in C, composed in 2006, was commissioned by and is dedicated to the American Guild of Organists. The composer would like to thank John Sherer for his invaluable help in making the registrations.

These two works were composed with the intention that they would be used in services of all kinds. The commission outlined that the music was to be sight-readable (so that many organists could play the music), and to be playable on small, commonplace pipe organs. The movements can be performed separately or together. Both movements are lyrical, graceful, resonant, and colorful and each has a duration of about two and a half minutes.

**Trumpet in C can be substituted by: flute, oboe, clarinet in Bb, soprano saxophone in Bb, soprano vocalize, violin or viola. For this reason, "C" as well as  "Bb" parts are included in the published materials. The score is in C.
